Three boks down, almost four

So I borrowed Patriot Games from the library thinking it might be cool to read a Clancy novel, I like some of his movies, especially Jack Ryan ones. But I never expected to get this engrossed in the thing. I have done almost nothing all day but read it. And unfortunately it's still taking a bloody long time. I must say, though, it's really good. Occassionally I feel like he's being detailed about something that isn't really related to the plot, but otherwise I really like the way he writes. I always kind of liked the character of Jack Ryan, but now I really like him, and even more than that, I really really like Cathy Ryan. It's funny cause the person they picked to play her in The Sum Of All Fears is absolutely perfect, I can totally see her as I read this. Another thing that makes the book absolutely cool is that Cathy is pregnant and there are lots of intimate (and I don't mean physically) scenes between Jack and Cathy and it just really hit my maternal instict hard. I want to have kids so much...

Lastly, this line made me think of my favorite drinker of Scotch whiskey:
"It was gratifying to see that the American had finally learned to drink his whiskey decently. In the past year Owens had broken Murray of the need to put ice in everything. It was shameful to contaminate single-malt Scotch whiskey."

I think I'll read one more chapter before going to bed. Having time to read is the only thing that makes me grateful for being sick.
