Jordan and I had our first marriage counseling session today. The person who counseled us originally suggested 4 hours of counseling, in two sessions. We talked today for about an hour and a half, a little longer, and afterwards he said that unless either of us or he thought of something else, that we really didn't need to meet again. He said we had good communication and that we had talked about a lot of the big issues already. We knew that we needed to compromise but we also looked at situations from a win-win standpoint, not one person giving into the other completely. Which is really exciting. Also, after hearing about our history, he said that he didn't feel like we were rushing things. He said that having known each other as long as we have, he can't imagine a situation that would come up during engagement (especially while living in separate cities) that we haven't already faced, even when we were just friends. So that was a very positive experience.
Secondly, Jordan and I adopted a new member of our family today. His name is Snickers, and he is a three month old orange tabby. He is adorable and wonderful and terribly cute. He is still exploring his new home as I type, but right now he's fascinated with the closet where his litter box is located. We're both really excited about our new addition and are looking forward to spending more time together.
Thirdly, I drove Jordan's car for a little bit today. He said, and I quote, "Lisa's a natural at driving a stick." He said I did really well, and I only made it stall once. That was one of those really nice things to hear.
So all in all, we had a very full and busy day. Okay, time to go play with my new friend.
