"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance." ~James 1 vs 2-3
"Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him." ~James 1 vs 12
"Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job's perseverance and have seen what the Lord has finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy." ~James 5 vs 10-11
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." ~II Corinthians 4:16-18
"Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." ~2 Corinthians 12:8-10
"Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverace, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us." ~Romans 5:3-5
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, no any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." ~Romans 8:38-39
"...so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God, without fault in a crooked and depreved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe..." ~Philippians 2:15
Walls crumble, cities fall, love is lost, money runs out, families leave, friends betray.
But I stand here, Happy In Spite Of, because I know that while the things of this world will crumble and fall, and the things of this world will all come to an end, I am not of this world. I am a new creation, a child of the Living God. What I lose here on earth was never mine to have; everything here belongs to my Lord. What He sees fit for me to have, I will have, and what He sees fit to take away, I will lose. Whatever trials I go through are lessons to teach me and strengthen me. This world will pass away, but I will not. I belong to the Risen Lord, the Giver of Life. He will provide for me, and when this life is over, He will draw me to Him and I will live forever.
