Not that I really use this much now, but I think I might try to write some more. I had a great vacation with Jordan's family. It was neat in that there was very little stress. You know how some family vacations can just be hugely stressing? This one was very relaxing. His parents rented a cabin in Spooner, Wisconsin right on the lake. The weather was cool, with one or two warm days thrown in. I swam a bit, ate too much (but it was good), kept up with the running schedule (more on that later), caught my first fish, did a crazy-difficult puzzle, and relaxed and enjoyed the serenity. Played a lot of Settlers and some Hand and Foot, especially. Had campfires and smores and lots of cheese. Also, got to go to Mall of America and ride a roller coaster there, plus window shop and covet clothing. (I also got a fantastic dress cause my mother in law always wanted a daughter.) Overall, very very good vacation.
The running thing--Jordan found a program that was designed to take you from couch potato to running a 5k in 10 weeks. We started it in June and we're a little bit behind but we have kept at it. We're on week 3 or 4, we're doing 90s run, 90s walk, 3 min run, 3 min walk, repeat. It's been a killer, and we think it's because we started it in Wisconsin where our diet was much higher in fat and alcohol than our usual diet. We're going to do at least one more day of that before we move on to the next one. I have never stuck with an exercise program like this before, and I'm really excited about it.
I also picked up The Brothers Karamazov again and I am determined to get through it this time. I'm not letting myself read anything else until I'm done (and there are a lot of things that I really want to read, so I'm hoping that's good motivation). Jordan promised to buy a second copy and read it with me so he can explain confusing stuff to me. So far, I'm not a fan of the fact that Russian authors feel the need to describe in detail the looks and personality of nearly every minor character. But the story is okay, still very introductory right now. I'm not up to where I left off last time yet.
I reread all the Harry Potter books and found a few irksome things, but after a second reading of The Deathly Hallows I've decided that I like it even more than the first time, and I like the ending better the second time around (I felt it was sort of a let-down the first time). Still very much looking forward to the next movie. Still hate Snape.
After reading reviews of The Sandman by Melinda, I also really want to pick up that series again and reread it. All the things she doesn't like and keeps pointing out remind me of all the things I like about it (and I still can't figure out most of her dislikes so I thought I'd reread it to see if I could understand some more).
I'm tutoring this summer and making a decent amount of money but it's starting to become tedious and boring. Maybe today was just rough because I didn't get enough sleep last night.
I guess that's the end of my update.
